The Miami Seaquarium is a 38-acre (15-hectare) oceanarium on the island of Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay, Miami-Dade County, Florida, near downtown Miami. It is one of the oldest oceanariums in the United States, having opened in 1955. The Miami Seaquarium also contains fish, sharks, sea turtles, birds, reptiles, and manatees in addition to marine animals. The park conducts daily presentations as well as overnight camps, Boy Scout activities, and group programs. Every year, about 500,000 individuals visit the venue.
